General Rules Boys (7 v 7) Rules Girls (8 v 8) Rules


General Tournament Rules:

  • Please park in only designated areas (refer to field map)
  • No pets are allowed on the John Jay Campus
  • No parents are allowed on or near the field.  Only players and coaches.
  • Contest Field specific rules: No one is allowed on the running track at any time.
  • AP Farms Field specific rules:
    • ​No one is allowed on AP Farms prior to 10:00 am on Saturday and 12 noon on Sunday.
    • No parking or drop-off allowed at the traffic circle near AP Farms
    • No drop-off allowed on Route 121
    • Please park at the High School and cross only using the marked cross-walk!

Gobbler Games Boys (7v7) Rules:

 

  • Each game is 30 minutes running time. The referees will access a quick timeout halfway through the game for teams to regroup and switch sides.

 

  • Each half begins with a faceoff. Wing middies must be positioned on the sideline to the left of their faceoff man. Defensemen and attackmen must remain behind the goal line extended until the referees signal possession. The goalie must remain in the crease area until possession is signaled.

 

  • Teams must have 2 attack, 2 middies, 2 defense and 1 goalie on the field

 

  • All player substitutions are on the fly.

 

  • There are NO timeouts

 

  • Maximum of three longsticks on the field at a time.

 

  • Onsides is in effect - 2 players on offense and 3 on defense at all times.

 

  • All penalties will be called. In the case of a penalty, a 3 on 2 fast break from the midfield will be awarded to the offended team.
    • In a flagdown situation for a PERSONAL foul, if the offended team scores, they will also receive a fast break.
    • In a flagdown situation for a TECHNICAL foul, if the offended team scores, the penalty is wiped out and the ball is given to the goalie.

 

  • A game ending tied is decided by a sudden-death overtime, which begins immediately after regulation time with a faceoff.

 

  • After a goal is scored the ball is awarded to the scored upon goalie who puts the ball in play from his crease area. A referee must whistle to indicate play has recommenced. Referees will record each goal before resuming play.

 

  • A ball shot wide by the offense is automatically awarded to the defensive team. Any deflected shot by a defensive player and/or goalie/pipe is still considered an offensive shot.

 

  • All sticks must meet High School Regulations. If referees feel a stick may be illegal, the player will be asked to go to the sideline until the stick can be checked by the referee during a dead ball.  

 

  • NO FIGHTING! ANY PLAYERS OR COACHES INVOLVED IN A FIGHT WILL BE EXPELLED FROM THE TOURNAMENT. No second chances. There is ZERO tolerance for fighting.

 

Flagrant fouls: 1st offense - expulsion from game; 2nd offense (occurring anytime during tournament after first offense) - expulsion from tournament. The certified referee will be the sole determinant as to whether a foul is flagrant or not. 

Gobbler Games Girls (8v8) Rules:

 

  • Each game is 30 minutes running time. The referees will access a quick timeout halfway through the game for teams to regroup and switch sides.

 

  • Each half begins with a draw. Midfielders must be positioned 10 yards outside the Draw. Defense and attack must remain behind the goal line extended until the referees signal possession. The goalie must remain in the crease area until possession is signaled.

 

  • Teams must have 2 attack, 3middies, 2 defense and 1 goalie on the field

 

  • All player substitutions are on the fly.

 

  • Onsides is in effect - 2 players from each team must be on each side at all times (not including goalies).
