As part of our effort to make John Jay Youth Lacrosse more affordable and bring new players to the game, we recently announced significant reductions in our fee structure for boys for the 2018 season, to bring them more in line with the girls side.
Our goal is to get enough kids in each grade to field multiple teams based on ability. This allows our players more time, reps and touches on the field. More time on the field means more opportunity for your kids to build their lax skills and acumen — and of course, much more fun for all.
Even with our announced fee reduction for the spring season, our projections show registration numbers are likely to be too low in the boys and girls grades 4 through 8 to field multiple teams. In an attempt to alleviate this issue, we are announcing “Operation Play JJYLax”, a one time, new player registration offer of $99 for boys and girls in grades 5 through 8 that are new to the program.
This offer -- which will be made available on a first-come, first-serve basis until we reach our registration targets -- is available to residents of the Katonah-Lewisboro school district who have never played for JJYL. In addition to the low fee, these players can take advantage of our no-risk equipment loaner program, which provides all the gear boys and girls need to play (except for protective cups for boys and cleats) for use during the season at no-cost. Players can return the gear at the end of the season, or purchase it at JJYL’s reduced cost.
This is an incredible deal for new players to try the game for a minimal fee, borrow equipment from JJYL, be placed on a team with players of similar skill level, and have fun learning the game of lacrosse from great coaches.
It is our belief that getting new recruits to join JJYL in these grades, and ensuring we can field multiple teams per grade, makes the experience better for all of our players.
